Individual and group therapy in Union Square.
My practice
I am a psychologist treating adults of all ages in individual and group therapy.
I specialize in working with members of the LGBTQ community, people with substance use concerns, older adults, and people with chronic health issues including HIV. For group offerings, I conduct a virtual, weekly harm reduction group for people looking to improve their relationship to substances.
About me
I am a psychodynamic psychotherapist, which means I pay close attention to your life history, your emotions, repeating themes and patterns, and your experience of the present moment. I primarily aim to listen, but sometimes I also talk! I strive to offer culturally-sensitive psychotherapy to help us better understand the ways that societal influences affect your internal experiences.
I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from Widener University and my bachelor’s from Haverford College. I most recently worked at the Peter Krueger Clinic at Mount Sinai-Beth Israel, and before that I focused on substance use work at The Center for Optimal Living. I am currently on faculty at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine where I teach doctoral students about psychotherapy technique.
I have post-graduate training in Integrative Harm Reduction Psychotherapy and Motivational Interviewing.
Fees and insurance
I am in network with Medicare (traditional Medicare only, and not Medicare Advantage). I am out of network with all other insurances. For patients using their out of network coverage, you will pay for sessions at the end of each month. We will talk about finances and insurance when we meet to determine a fee that makes sense. I will provide you with the paperwork necessary to be reimbursed by your insurance company.
I like to start by having a brief (15-20 minute) phone call to discuss your current situation. That is usually enough time to decide if we should set up an initial meeting. From there I will typically meet with someone for 1-3 initial meetings to give each of us the opportunity to assess whether it’s a good fit. The kind of therapy I do takes some time to take effect, but sometimes people notice differences right away. For more information, please reach out to me using the contact information below.
